Privacy Policy
SnazzyRSS is developed by Alex Humphreys (Berlin, Germany). For privacy questions, contact hello@alexhumphreys.me.
What we collect
Nothing. SnazzyRSS does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to servers we operate — we do not operate any. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party tracking SDKs in the app.
Where your data lives
- On your device. Your subscriptions, the articles that have been fetched, what you have read and how far, what you have saved for later, and your reading settings are stored in a database inside the app's own storage on your iPhone or iPad.
- In your iCloud account, if iCloud is on. To keep your devices in step, SnazzyRSS uses Apple's CloudKit service to store your subscriptions, what you have read and how far, your saved articles and their text, and when each feed was last checked (so that only one of your devices needs to fetch it) in your private iCloud container. We have no access to it. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles iCloud data. With iCloud switched off, the app works fully and your data stays on the device.
What the app connects to
SnazzyRSS fetches feeds directly from the sites you subscribe to. It also loads the images and site icons that those feeds reference, and — when you save an article, from Safari or in the app — the page you saved.
When you open an article that embeds content from another service, such as a video or a map, that embed loads from the service that provides it, as it would in a browser.
Those requests go to the publisher or the embedded service, not through us. As with any request your browser makes, they can see your IP address and the request headers. We do not proxy, log, or see any of it.
The app identifies itself honestly in its User-Agent header, with its
name, version and build so that site owners can tell what is polling them.
That header deliberately contains nothing identifying about you.
Beyond those sites, the app talks only to Apple: to iCloud for sync, and to the App Store for purchases. There is no third-party image proxy, favicon service, or content extraction API — a site icon is fetched only from the site itself.
Purchases
SnazzyRSS offers a free 14-day trial and a one-time unlock, both as in-app purchases handled entirely by Apple. The app checks with the App Store on your device whether you own them. We receive no payment details and no information about who you are.
Device permissions
None that ask you anything. SnazzyRSS does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or photo library, and it does not use speech recognition.
The app registers for silent iCloud notifications, which tell it when you have changed something on another device. They are never shown to you, and the app never asks permission to show notifications.
Links you open
Opening an article in Safari or the in-app browser, or sharing one, hands you to that website or app, which has its own privacy policy and is not covered by this one.
Diagnostics
The app keeps a log of its own activity — when it polled a feed, what the server said, what went wrong — so that you can see why a feed is misbehaving and so that it can back off politely when a server asks it to. That log is written to your device, is never uploaded, and is removed when you delete the app.
This website
The app collects nothing. This website, where you are reading this, uses GoatCounter for basic visitor counts. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites, and collects no personal data. It is not part of the app and the app never contacts it.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. You can remove the app's data from your device by deleting the app, and its iCloud copy via Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → SnazzyRSS.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will appear at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. If a future version of the app ever collects personal data, or requests a permission not listed above, this policy and the App Store privacy details will be updated before that change takes effect.
